Frequently Asked Questions
What makes Supportive Sleep different?
At Supportive Sleep our focus is on sleep as a whole. This means that settling your baby to sleep isn’t the only aspect we discuss or change.
A holistic approach focuses on everything that can impact sleep from routine, environment, health and everything inbetween. You’ll be amazed at what can affect sleep.
Supportive Sleep also does not use sleep training. There is no cry it out, ferber, spaced soothing, whatever you want to name it. Just a focus on attachment and security.
What if it doesn't work?
You’ll notice a majority of consultations offer a period of support. This is to help implement recommendations and also make any adjustments if required. There isn’t a one size fits all approach, so everything for these consultations is fully personalised.
Sleep School v Sleep Consultant
There are so many options available when it comes to sleep. Things like residential programs are often government funded or covered by Private Health Insurance, so cost is nil or low.
The only major factor seen with using a program outside of the home is the support afterwards. Often parents have questions and struggles after and feel they have nowhere to turn for support and guidance. A sleep consultant can give you that 1:1 support and guidance.
Why hire a sleep consultant?
I work with you to analyse and discuss the challenges with your baby’s sleep, and also the science behind why challenges may be occurring. I don’t use a one size fits all approach, so all recommendations are based on your individual assessment.
Often when using things like downloadable guides, parents can feel overwhelmed and anxious when their child doesn’t fit what is expected or promised in that product. Hiring a sleep consultant allows you your own personal support.
When is the best time to start?
ANYTIME! Whenever you are ready is the best time. There are no rules, no age limits.
I have supported Mums with setting good sleep foundations up before their baby was even born!
Do you offer refunds?
Due to the nature of the business, refunds are not offered. If there are difficulties changes can be made to your plan and your support period can be put on pause if you require some times to focus on underlying concerns.
What about crying?
It’s important to note that for babies and toddlers, crying is a form of communication.
There may be times where your baby does cry, but my advice would never to be to ignore it, and I would never tell you not to respond to your child. It is natural to want to tend to our baby when they cry.
What's the process?
Upon your order you will be emailed a questionnaire form to complete. This helps me get a good insight into your situation, your goals, your babys needs. From there, depending on which consultation you choose, you’ll either have a chat over the phone, a home visit or some emails. After this you will receive a personalised plan and support for the allocated period.
